HILDA SOLIS AND FORMER DALLAS MAYOR RON KIRK

A daughter of Mexican and Nicaraguan immigrants has been nominating by President-elect Barack Obama to be labor secretary, Hilda Solis has focused on immigration and the environment while serving in the House since 2001. Peru and Central America may be no happy with Solis because She has been an opponent of free-trade agreements, in step with union positions. Solis voted against a trade deal with Peru last year and against a Central American free trade.

Kirk is a Dallas lawyer who was the first black to be elected the city's mayor. He's described by associates as a skilled NEGOTIATOR, like Obama national finance chair , Ron Kirk left Dallas with a $95 million budget deficit when he quit to run for the U.S. Senate.
